Please look at the Chow & Lum tombstones. The Lum tombstone was extremely wide and had to be photograped in sections. These are the newest edition to my blog. Thank you for your help. gajungseng.blogspot.comskwdvm

The Lum's are from Sabei (沙貝), Conghua City (county 從化市) which just north of Guangzhou and northwest of Zengcheng City.

Dear Woodson: Thank you very much for the map and the translation! My grandmother always said we were from Zengcheng, but nothing else. Someday I would like to be able to look at a map and determine how far apart the various family villages in my lineage were from each other. I think they call that a cluster map. Can I check the names on the tombstone with you? Father should be KUM YUEN LUM. I am not sure about Mother. I do know her surname was JAM though. We are not sure whether she is JaM Shee Chan Woon or Jam Shee Chan Woom. This is what we have been told. I have learned that SHEE should be translated as MRS.

If you ask Henry nice I'm quite sure he'll able to tell you the distance between the two villages. With China's modern super-highway it shouldn't be more than a 30 minutes' bus ride. Kum Yuen Lum is correct. The tombstone shows no name for Jam Shee. It just says Lum Family Jam Shee. Shee implies Mrs. A more correct term would be "nee".

Dear Henry: Would you mind giving me an idea of the distances and time travel between Yiuh Tihn, Conghau City, and Wan Chau? It sounds like one could see Yiuh Tihn and Conghau City fairly easily like seeing SF, CA and Oakland, CA. How far away would Wan Chau be from Yiuh Tihn? Thank you- I greatly appreciate your help with this.

Straight line distance between Conghau City and Wan Chau is roughly 60 miles - road distance is probably about 100 miles and travel time is about 3 hours
