For the first time in history, the new Confucius genealogy record (to be available in 2009) will include the names of its female descendants, as indicated here: english.people.com.cn/200607/25/eng20060725_286500.htmlAbout time too, as a true family genealogy record should include all members, not just males as was the accepted rule. In normal Chinese practice wives retain their own names throughout their married lives, so the oft quoted expression that daughters belong to the husband's family does not ring quite true.
