Hi, i've been wondering if anyone can help me with the following: I've recently found a paper that my grandfather wrote before he died. It had my name in chinese on it. I was curious to know what my surname is (I think it might be Hua, He, Ho, Xia, or something like that) I know that in Vietnamese it's simply Ha and when my father arrived they just left it as Ha, but i'm curious to know what the real name is (for geneology purposes) From what I understand, Chi and Vi would traditionally be qualities, but which ones? This is the only thing I have from my grandfather, and I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks for everything!

In western society I think He and Ho are the two most commonly used. Xi has many meanings but when used in name it generally means resoluteness, goal or purpose. While Vi means great or grand.

Chi means aspirations, ambition
Wai means great, greatness or expansive
Therefore Chi Wai means great aspirations . It is quite a popular name for a male. It is also used as Wai Chi.
