Helen, on viewing the photos again, I noticed No.14 showing two diners at Johnny Kan's restaurant. Could it be the same Johnny Kan who commissioned Jake Lee to paint those watercolour masterpieces which graced his dining room? Those paintings depicting life of the Chinese in America are now much-prized works of art. I wonder the diners in the '50s would appreciate what they were looking at on the walls. www.bigwowo.com/2011/02/jake-lee-and-his-rediscovered-art/ Douglas
