Greetings!
Hope someone can assist me on this.
I'm trying to establish my ancestor home and family members in Sun Wui or Xin Hui as it is presently known. My biggest obstacle is I cannot read and write Chinese.
My family name is LEONG (spelled in Malaysia).
According to my eldest uncle my ancestors originated from Chew Lin Kei Sun Wui. Apparently, the area "breed" silkworms.
My late great grandma & late grandfather (both whom I never had the chance to meet) migrated to Johor Bahru Malaysia late 1890s or early 1900s. I've no clue about late my great grandfather nor my grandfather's siblings as my eldest uncle also has no clue.
Thank you and regards, Albert Leong

Greetings to you Lachinatown,
Yes! That is my family name Leung (in Chinese character).
No, I have yet to check up from the link you posted as I didn't realize the link earlier.
I'll look it up and enlighten you on my progress.
Thank you very much.
Regards, Albert

Lachinatown,
Looks like my info is too incomplete. Will have to consult my eldest uncle for more details.
Thanks & regards, Albert

Greetings!
Looks like I'm gonna have a hard time comprehending whether Chew Lin Kei is a city or a village within or around Xin Hui (San Wui) as non of the eldest has more info to share.

sifuchai,
Your Chew Lin Kei is likely 潮连溪 in Xinhui 新会区 which is actually on an island. Today it is named Chaolianzhen 潮连镇 (in Cantonese Chiuh Lihn Jan) (GPS: 22.623078, 113.123757) which is a small country town. Unfortunately, you still lack the name of your ancestral village.

Greetings twoupman,
Appreciate very much for your kind assistance.
Wow! My ancestor village is on an island? Something for a new start.
All my eldest uncle can recollect is that his dad told him that our ancestor village has silk worm farms. That's the best info he can provide.
My friend told me that as long as I can provide my grandfather's name (since his name is the last on the Jia Bu list) at the Leong Clan Association in Xin Hui I should be able to get details of my ancestors. That's what he did when he went back to Chao Zhou. He got the details within 15 minutes. Amazing!
Anyway, we are planing a trip to Xin Hui either in late November or early December if I'm able to get some leave from my employer.
Thank you and I will definitely update my findings after my trip.
Cheers!
