i am looking for the family of my great grand father Tin tin Ah kin from Canton or Kuang Tung China. He migrated to the Samoan islands around the 1920's, there he married a samoan lady Vini Taavao my great grandmother. He was under a fake name Tin tin Ah kin...i was told that the Chinese workers at the time in the Pacific Islands changed their names. Tin tin didn't tell any of the family his family history or anything, so it is hard to trace his family's whereabouts. i hope anyone could help with this....
my email is usofrancis@hotmail.com or if you cant get through try usobro@hotmail.com...
thanks Uso

It is a common Chinese practice of adding the prefix Ah to a person's name when addressing that person or in conversation. It is safe to say Kin is your ggf's given name.
There is a Chinese surname, Cantonese pronunciation, that is very close to Tin. This surname, Ting, means field.
It is possible for your ggf to follow the Chinese custom of surname first and given name last.

And, if I may add, knowing the new spellings for Kuan tung (Guangdong) and Canton (Guagnzhou) as discussed elsewhere in this forum, will be a good start.
