Does anyone know where Anyi (On Yap) is located? Is this an old name which may have changed? Only know it is in Guangdong Province.

Up on the northeast corner of Guangdong near Shantou is Chaoan county. Could this be the place you are looking for? It is conceivable that people would've referred to it as Anyi (On Yap) just as Xinning (Taishan) was called Ning Yap.

Have checked with a friend of mine from Shantou and he said Chaoan was not referred to as Anyi in the past. My Guangdong altas says since Sui Dynasty (591) it was called Chaozhao, and since 1912 it was called Chaoan county. So Anyi must be somewhere else. It is the inscription on a tombstone with no further reference to a village name. Can anyone help?

Here is another shot in the dark. Prior to 1979 Shenzhen City was officially known as Bao An (Ä_¦w¿¤).

Okay. Here's another stab. There is a Zijin (µµª÷¿¤) County which is wedged Wuhua (¤µØ¿¤) and Huizhou (´f¦{¥«). It was first establish in 1570 as Yongan (¥Ã¦w¿¤). That name remained in use until 1914.
