Whether you’re simply curious about your Chinese origins or are wanting to visit your ancestral village in China, there are two things you need to know – your Chinese ancestor’s name in Chinese characters and their village and county of origin. Here you will find some suggestions for using Australian records to find these critical pieces of information. You can also download a printable pdf of this post. chineseaustralia.org/finding-your-chinese-roots/

Hi Boycua - Welcome. You may be better to start your own thread, so as not to miss out on answers. Do you have any passports, shipping papers, chinese characters, may be on a head stone. any papers that might indicate where he came from?

Hi Boycua - sorry I missed your posts. Are you based in Manilla? It may be possible they have government records when he arrived in 1950. What business was he in? Maybe there are Chinese associations that looked after the men from Amoy.
