“FAMILY LEGACIES:Legends and Verification “ with Jeanie Low This complimentary program is scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2019 , 10:30 AM to Noon at the Fremont Main Library 2400 Stevenson Blvd. Fremont, CA. Jeanie Low will teach you to uncover records such as : 1885 SF Chinatown map /census/ Chinese Mortuary Records, 1870-1930, gravestones and 20th century immigration and naturalization. Jeanie’s program will discuss research techniques and how to receive copies of documents such as immigration and naturalization (Angel Island, the “Confession Program”, deportation and Reparation case files) aka the A-Files for all ethnic groups. Jeanie is the author of “China Connection :Finding Ancestral Roots for Chinese in America.” She is the Communications Co-chair of SONA, an advocacy group that resulted with USCIS transferring older A-Files to the National Archives as a historical collection for public research. She has degrees in Library Technology and Chinese Studies. She is a second generation Chinese American and is also a fiber artist. Since 1993, Low has presented for various organizations including the National Archives and Records Administration, National Genealogical Society, Chinese Historical Society of America, California Genealogical Society and Angel Island Immigration Station.
