Hi, during the 1900s in the Philippines, my grandfather purchased a surname from a family in China in order to gain easy entry to the country. That was the practice back then. I found out that our family name is not the real family name of my grandfather. In the disembarkation card, migrant sign their names and the signature on paper is 李全苸 Lǐ Quánhū. Li is not a common family in Xiamen (Amoy) but probably they are migrants there as well from other hamlets/counties/or provinces. I have 2 uncles who returned to Xiamen when they are still children. Since then my father and grandfather lost contact. I love to trace our roots and our ancestral village to find out what happened to my uncles.
Any help will do.
Thanks!

Hi! I think we have a similar background! My Chinese grandparents also may have been "adopted" and came to the Philippines as teenagers. I was wondering if the disembarkation card you have is from your family, or did you find it somewhere online?
