Hello! I am new to this board and I'm looking to trace my grandmother's side of the family. Thank you in advance for those who stop by this thread. I have located the gravestone of my grandmother's mother as well as a paternal uncle of hers. Now that I have this information, I don't really know what to do with it to continue my search. For reference, I've sought some translation assistance for my grandmother's mother here and for her uncle here. From what I understand, the maternal side seemingly gets lost/mushed together with the paternal lineage. As such, it would make sense that I believe both ancestral villages listed (? if that's what they are?) are at the same place: Nanhua Village, Renping Township, Chonglou Town in Taishan, Guangdong since it's really only for the 曾/paternal side. So now what? I'm at a loss. I'm fairly proficient in genealogy on the American side of my family, but I cannot get my head around how I'd continue my search for this lineage. Can anyone provide any assistance or guidance?

Hi Chris,
Your maternal great mother & uncle have the same ancestral village (Nanhua)and the Tsang 曾 lineage would be traced thru the uncle's lineage from the village genealogy book.

Hi Chris, Your maternal great mother & uncle have the same ancestral village (Nanhua)and the Tsang 曾 lineage would be traced thru the uncle's lineage from the village genealogy book. Henry 1. So the ancestral village for the woman remains in tact after marriage? I thought she was absorbed into the male lineage. As the uncle is on the paternal side and the mother, well, is on the maternal side, I assumed that the mother's headstone was referring to the father's (and, as such, the uncle's) ancestral village. This would be a new bit of information for me if true. 2. Does anyone have any information about Nanhua Village, Renping Township, Chonglou Town? Google Maps will seem to pull up a Chonglou in Taishan, Guangdong so I think that's the correct general area, but can't dive any deeper than that. How would I find out more about this Village/Township or learn more about the village genealogy book?
