My surname is Wong (王) and I heard that my family was from Hainan Province (海南省). As far as I know, my family might be from Wenchang(文昌)
Having trouble finding it myself so I thought to ask for help

Do you have the Chinese name of your Wong/Wang ancestral village in Wenchang ?
Might be on ancestor's gravestone in Chinese characters - post an image.

I do not. I could look for my grandparents gravestone to see. But as far as I know this is all the information I have.

Hi bwong: According to the Chinese website wang-shi.com ("Website of the Worldwide Wang Clan"), Wang is one of the most popular surnames in Hainan, with Wenchang as one of four Wang population centers. It looks like there is a 2004 Wenchang County Wang genealogy at the LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Here is the information: www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1680280?availability=Family%20History%20Library. It appears to be on microfiche, which means that in the past you could go to a local LDS church family history center to request it and then view it there. However, I am not sure if that is still possible, as they are now trying to digitize everything and circulation of materials may be discontinued. You might have to go to Salt Lake City if you want to view the microfiche. Greg
