I see that Gaodongwo is on google maps but when I google it there is absolutely nothing that comes up.

I see it on Google Maps but I meant there is no information when I google the name. Says no results found. It's not mentioned on google at all, unless it went by a different name or something

Hi laami:
I tried Googling the Chinese characters for Gaodongwo and nothing turned up either, except for the map. I guess there is not much going on there. I am not even sure what Gaodongwo is.

I used Baidu maps to look it up. There's a pin but on the satellite imagery, there's nothing visible other than vegetation.
The advantage of Baidu maps is the map and satellite imagery match. It's not that Google are incompetent, it's the impositions that PRC places on mapping.
Baidu search has nothing on the place either.

Mr Henry Tom gave me the name of the village and the link to google maps - he is the expert in this sort of thing. my thoughts as well was that they are probably not on the grid or there is nothing much left of that village from back then.
