I would welcome advice on how to find my maternal grandfathers daughter and family. My grandfather Tee Jew Lim had a close brother and they came to Liverpool, England 1940s. My grandfather was born in Hainan, lost his mother as a small child, and was looked after by his older brother. My grandfather had a scar on his chest which was from fighting the Japanese. He spent time in Canton and Singapore travelled around the world as a seaman working for the blue funnel line. He told me mother he had a daughter who he left behind in china. I have his passport, photos and letters from relatives which have an address. He spoke many dialects of Chinese. My mother, Mayling, is his eldest child and speaks Chinese, and can provide more information if anyone can help. My dream is to trace mother's family so she can meet them before she dies.

Welcome to the Chinese Genealogy Forum, liverpoollim. Thank you for your request for advice. I totally understand your dream of tracing your mother's family. Can you post images of original documents or grave monuments that have the Chinese characters for the names of your ancestors and their places of origin?
