My great great grandfather name is Tay Chun Li. I think he is first ancestor to leave China and arrive in Melaka, Malaysia. It could be he was first in Palembang before arriving to Melaka with a wife from Palembang. I wish to find his village in China. He has no grave in Malaysia although we knew he died here. His son Tay Hock Guan died in 1918 and the tombstone tells us village is Lu Jiang. But we were informed Lu Jiang could be whole of Xiamen. We think that only Chun Li name has conform to the family Jiapu. Can you direct me to any source or experts to trace Chun Li origins.

Hi:
In order to have any success in searching for your ancestors, it will be necessary to have the Chinese characters for your ancestors' names. If you are able to get a photo of your great-great-grandfather's son's headstone, with the name of the ancestral place, that would also be helpful.
