Convoluted surfing after checking wikipedia.org for "Taishan". There are some genealogy links at the bottom of that page.

Great work here - but it it a seiyip board only? or are Junseng and Dongguan people allowed as well? Cantonese speakers?

Great work here - but it it a seiyip board only? or are Junseng and Dongguan people allowed as well? Cantonese speakers? No, it is not restricted to Siyi only as many families/clans have branches in the counties near Guangzhou including the two you mentioned. Furthermore many trace their roots to Northern Guangdong and Central China.

I was looking for anything on "Toishan & Hoiping" and found some fantastic videos of YanStevenUT on You Tube of his visits in Kaiping (Hoiping) City. This is a great site for those looking for their ancestral roots/villages! I have never been to China yet (yes, a future visit is in the works).

Hello ! I found your site while I was researching about my Chinese ancestor. I didn't knew this site before. Here is his signature (Year 1870) :

I was searching for information about the origins of my family name and found a post here relating to the work Dr. Tan did on the Indonesian branch of the 曾 Zēng family.
