Thanks Henry.
A GPS unit...wow... I would love to get one of those. Now if I could only convince my wonderful spouse to allow me to add more toys to my collection. Great website you have. I really enjoy the fact that you've involved another generation (your nephew) on your family roots research!

Hi Qing01, Welcome to the Forum ! I would like to add a map: mysite.verizon.net/vzepzaui/Southern Guangdong 2003.jpg[/img] As tyuti1668 has indicated, there appears to be a Tung Wu Li æ±æ¹–里 near Chikan èµ¤åŽ town and one near Chishui èµ¤åŽ town. Chikan is located southwest of Kaiping (Hoiping) and Chishui is located south of Chikan. You might want to make a call to the overseas Chinese office as suggested. As many of the villages and hamlets in the 4 counties that comprise the SiYi region are predominantly inhabited by people with the same surname - when you tell them your surname, they can probably tell you which hamlet 里 it is. It it is located near Chikan, then I suggest staying in Kaiping. if it is near Chishui, I suggest staying in Taicheng (Taishan City). See my detailed post regarding traveling to places in Guangdong province: siyigenealogy.proboards28.com/index.cgi?board=maps&action=display&thread=729and also: siyigenealogy.proboards28.com/index.cgi?board=shared&action=display&thread=812If you need an English speaking person that can do the research for you, go to your ancestral village to speak to the people, try to find and copy your family genealogy book for you, and serve as your guide - my nephew in Taishan is available to do this. He has served several Forum member that have traveled to the SiYi region. Henry

Thank you tyuti1668 and Henry. The surname is Ao (or Ou) and it is very likely the village is one near Chishui èµ¤åŽ town.
I find this forum consistently fills with useful information. Amazing group of people who are dedicated to share experiences and research tips.
