I’m looing for my parents village in Taishan. The subheung is Shek Pan Hom and the village is Tung Sing. Does anyone know where this is, if it still exist; does it still go by the same name; names of nearby known towns; how to get there? I am planning to visit China next year and would like to see this place. Any info is greatly appreciated; I am clueless at this point.

fromtaishan, Taking a look at the www.c-c-c.org/villagedb/search.cgi Village Database website, I have easily located 2 villages named Tung Sing. The FIRST one is as follows: Ï´²¼É½ / Sai Po Shan / X¨« B¨´ Sh¨¡n / sai2 bou3 saan1 / 3156-1580-1472 aka –|³É / Tung Sing / D¨ng Ch¨¦ng / dung1 sing4 / 2639-2052 (×T,À× / Hom, Louie / T¨¢n, L¨¦i / taam4, leoi4 / 6223, 7191) The heung indicated is: ̨ɽ³Ç / Toishan City / T¨¢i Sh¨¡n Ch¨¦ng / toi4 saan1 sing4 / 0669-1472-1004 aka ¿h³Çæ‚ / Yuen Sing Chun / Xi¨¤n Ch¨¦ng Zh¨¨n / jyun6 sing4 zan3 / 4905-1004-6966 aka ¸½³Çæ‚ / Fu Sing Chun / F¨´ Ch¨¦ng Zh¨¨n / fu6 sing4 zan3 / 7096-1004-6966 which has 23 villages. I suspect that your Shek Pan Hom sub-heung could be a subpart of this heung. The SECOND Tung Sing village is: –|³É / Tung Sing / D¨ng Ch¨¦ng / dung1 sing4 / 2639-2052 (×T / Hom / T¨¢n / taam4 / 6223) It is a part of the heung named °×Ë®àl / Pak Sui Heung / B¨¢i Shu¨« Xi¨¡ng / baak6 seoi2 hoeng1 / 4101-3055-6763 which has 2 subheungs. I suspect that your Shek Pan Hom sub-heung could also be a subpart of this heung as well. Take a look at any other additional information you may have to delineate between the 2 Tung Sing villages to pinpoint which is the one that is your ancestral village. Good luck, Raymond

Raymond, Thanks for your response. I found the village in the database. It's Wing Hing Heung, Shek Pan Hom subheung, Tung Sing Village (I'm a Wong). I also found it on the US Army map FQ9056, but the map don't show the cities. I tried to find the location on other maps (Taishan.com map), but I'm unclear. Do you know what town or city it's in or near? Are these names still used today. If I were to go there and ask someone about this village would they know what I'm taking about?

I think the village is very close to Taishan City (Taicheng) because the database page gave the major markets as Sze Kau and Tai Tong. See map Sze Kau (in bold) is on the lower right hand corner. Tung Sing is slightly higher to the left and to the right of Taicheng.

fromtaishan,
I was not informed that your surname is Wong, so without any additional information, I assumed your surname to be Hom and proceeded to search the Village Database website and found the 2 Tung Sing villages. Now it is obvious that there are several villages named Tung Sing in Taishan. I believed Woodson pinpointed your Tung Sing village on his map for you. Anyway, good luck in your search.
Raymond
