I am looking for these villages where my parents-in-law came from.
Any suggestions? They seem to be 五福 and 咸堂 respectively, but we can't find them on maps. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It would be helpful to at least identify the surname and probable region where your inlaws came from or the dialect they speak.

Kevin Go to Village Database: www.c-c-c.org/villagedb/search.cgiNext to " Search for villages whose name" - Select "in Chinese" and paste Chinese characters in the search box and then you will find your villages. Then, for each village, click on the "heung" in which they are located and you will see the grid coordinates of FQ 8547 and FQ 8558 respectively , for their location. Go to my website:http://mysite.verizon.net/vzepzaui/maps4.html to locate the villages on the map. Scroll further down for an example of a large scale detailed historical topographic map on which your ancestral villages may appear - if you want such a map, you can contact me: Tomclan@gmail.com Henry Tom

twoupman: my mother-in-law is a Mak from Hum Hong, an my father-in-law is a Wong from Ng Fuk or Ng Fuk Lay. They are both Hoisan/Taishanese speakers, but I don't know which dialect.
We think that Ng Fuk Lay may be near Taishan City, and Hum Hong may be in Chinglou Township, but we are not sure. (We can't reach my parents-in-law at the moment.)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Henry: your maps look great, but we leave on Saturday, so we're a bit late for ordering maps.
