Hi my name is Geoff Lougoon. I am resident in Queensland Australia originally from a gold mining town in Victoria Austrlai, Bendigo or Dai Gum San as it was called by the Chinese miners. I am the great grand son of Louey Goon of Toi Shan district who came to Australia in the 1880's. I have been researching our family history in Australia which is almost complete but now require help and information on tracing and perhaps contacting relatives that remained in China. There are many decendants of the Louey family in Australia so not sure how easy this will be. I have also ascertained the names of my great great grandparents, Louey Ok Ku and Law Shu. Sorry I dont know village they came from. Any help will be appreciated.

Do you have a photo of your ggf's head stone? I assume he is buried in Bendigo's Chinese cemetery? If so, I am sure it will have Chinese characters on it. Post it and we can proceed from there.

Hello Geoff of Queensland,
My GGGFather resided at Mt Egerton Victoria Australia from mid 1870's to 1882. In the Ballan Shire Rate book, he was listed as a miner from 1879 to 1882. Mt Egerton is 146 km south of Bendigo, where your GGF resided in 1880's. Was he a miner or had another occupation? Have you found any history of chinese in the area during that period?
Have you found your village in China yet?
We originate from villages in Zengcheng county not far from Canton. Also found our Chinese surnames & meanings at /www.geocities.com/Tokyo/3919/hundred.html
