The forum was so helpful in finding the location of Tung Hing/Wong Village, and Lung On in previous posts. Thank you!
In this post, I'm looking for the location of my wife's father's original home village. The village name is Ying. It is located in the town of Chikan in the county of Kaipeng. The Chinese characters are é¹°æ‘ (Ying Village), èµ¤åŽ (Chikan town), 开平(kaipeng County)
Any help would be most appreciated.

é¹°æ‘ probably is today's è‹±æ‘ (é¹°æ‘ or è‹±æ‘ -Same story " é—œ" family build the tower å®è£”楼 & defected the bandit in 20's) 英æ‘= 赤åŽé•‡çº¢æºªç®¡åŒºè‹±æ‘ in China post's database è‹±æ‘ is too small, difficult/ impossible to find in map. Ask 红溪 locals where's that village when u're there. MAP

Hi Ben, Your father-in-law's village Ying é¹°æ‘ / è‹±æ‘ is difficult to locate on a map, however, as tyuti1668 has a China Post reference that it is within the Hong Xi 红溪 delivery area. The small market town of Hong Xi is located just northeast of the large market town of Chikan 赤åŽ. I believe that once you arrive in Hong Xi, one of the local people can tell you where to find Ying village é¹°æ‘ / è‹±æ‘ . Kaiping (Hoiping) is approximately 21 km (13 miles) northwest of Taicheng (Taishan City) and Hong Xi is approximately 15 km (9 miles) southwest of Kaiping City. Henry

è‹±æ‘ is in c-c-c db æ‘委會 is like subheung in the c-c-c db. Any @@æ‘ that found listed behind **æ‘委會/**管ç†å€ in China post's db is near impossible to find in map. Fortunately you can contact the æ‘委會 to find out the exact info. Packed one like my (also douglaslam's ) home village can find every alley's name in China Post db.

Ben,
Based upon the identification of Ying village è‹±æ‘ and its market town of Ng Lung äº”é¾ / 五龙 in the c-c-c db by tyuti1168 - I have added an annotation for Ng Lung town on the map. Ng Lung is about 5 miles southwest of kaiping and the local people will probably know the location of Ying village è‹±æ‘ .

Thanks for the analysis. I have a concern. Although tyuti1668 determined that é¹°æ‘ / è‹±æ‘ are probably the same village name, several of my father in-law's relatives gave me the Ying character as being é¹°. In addition one relative said the meaning of the character is "eagle". When I look up the meaning of the character 英, I see that it means "leaf". Although both characters are pronounced the same according to the On-Line Chinese Tool. So the question is, " Are é¹°æ‘ / è‹±æ‘ the same village? ". I didn't understand tyuti1668 story about é—œ family, which is my father in-law's family name. Is the story the rationale for the change in the character name from é¹°æ‘ to 英æ‘? If you guys feel real confident with the analysis I'll go with it. Thanks for your help! Ben

Search é¹°æ‘ or è‹±æ‘ in search engine gives the same story in 1922. Ask in-law's relatives, did they heard this story about their village: 100+ bandits goes to KP county middle school kidnapping ~20 student. (they all have "wealthy" overseas connection ). When they goes to their hiding place & the "village" is in the middle way. The US made generator supply electricity to the spotlight (never found in these area b4) & alarm, bandits can't hide & defected by villager's firearm (11 bandits captured). After that incident, almost every village in the area firearmed & have watch tower. If they say yes, then 100% is the same village. -NO. Ask these é—œ villager's around that area "where's that "é·¹æ‘"" when u're there. The story in video (Mandarin)

Just to tie this post up cleanly, I'd like to report that with the help of Henry, Tan Shi Cheng, and Tyuti1668 Ying Village was successfully located and visited. I was able to confirm with my brother-in-law that the Ying Village bandit story is true. Also the é¹°æ‘ or è‹±æ‘ names are associated with the same village. I am attaching a map that was annotated by Tan Shi Cheng showing the Ying Village location. As a bonus, the map also shows the An Ning Li Village 安宁里, my mother-in-law's Lee village home. Ben
