Ah Gin, While you were traveling in Kaiping, SiYi Forum member qing01, was also searching for this same hamlet 廣東, 開平, 東湖里: Please view the following thread: siyigenealogy.proboards28.com/index.cgi?board=maps&action=display&thread=555&page=2there appears to be a Tung Wu Li 東湖里 near Chikan 赤坎 town and one near Chishui 赤坎 town. Chikan is located southwest of Kaiping (Hoiping) and Chishui is located south of Chikan. To determine the specific hamlet of interest, you might want to make a call to the overseas Chinese office as suggested by "tyuti1668": wqj.kaiping.gov.cn/fuwu/fwwl.htm As you already know, many of the villages and hamlets in the 4 counties that comprise the SiYi region are predominantly inhabited by people with the same surname - when you tell them your surname, they can probably tell you which hamlet 東湖里 it is. If locating this hamlet is a critical and/or time sensitive issue, you can contact my Taishan nephew, Tan Shi Cheng, and he can visit both hamlets to confirm the location important to your interests: siyigenealogy.proboards28.com/index.cgi?board=names&action=display&thread=821Regards, Henry

Henry,
Many thanks. I think the enquiry could very well come from the same person. Good that sufficient direction has been given for him to continue his research. Good to know that your nephew is such a well regarded contact back in Taishan.
Over and out on this enquiry. Regards, Ah Gin
