Eugene, Welcome to our Forum ! Our colleague tyuti1668 probably had incorrect information from that blog resulting in different map locations. Tyuti1668 is usually able to find ancestral villages that are very difficult to locate. I also checked and could not find Xin Jiang She 新江社, however, I was able to find Haicheng 海澄 market town - so if you get there, more than likely, the local people can tell you where Xin Jiang She is located. Below is a map of the Xiamen area showing Longhai city and Haicheng town and also a map of the road "S208" that leads to Haicheng town. Henry

三都 in 海澄 county = today's 厦门市海沧区 In 1958 PRC "steal" 三都 to 廈門 (Xiamen/Amoy) & create great confession to finding ancestry's birth place ;D ;D ;D ( this TWese also fooled by the 漳州府海澄縣's name & contacted the wrong dept in 漳州. Luckily he found it in 廈門市海滄區 ) Haicheng town in maps.live.com is the ex-海澄 county capital ONLY. The villagequoted from khookongsi.com.my (Map copied from 漳州府志)

Henry, Thanks for the information.
tyuti1668, Thanks for updating the location, actually I have an old copy of the Chinese map you attached, but a bit different, because the map i have is slightly bigger and I can't scan it. While for the Haicheng county's changes of administration is really an insightful information to me, thanks.

Eugene,
As mentioned, tyuti1668 has great research skills in finding the gazetteer information and genealogy map - whew. I'm so glad he is so willing to share his expertise - I am a geographer, but, unfortunately I cannot read or write Chinese.
Anyway I updated the Xiamen map to show the location of: 厦门市海沧区

I have the following information for the village, but what confuses me is the current English spelling on maps for the following:
Province = (Canton) Guangdong County = (Taishan) What is the correct/current spelling on maps ?
The village I am looking for is in Guangdong, Taishan called 石咀 / Shek Tsui
Does anyone know where it is located on the Google map or its GPS location ?
Any info would appreciated, I am trying to plan a trip back to my grandfather's and father's ancestral village.
Edit: Ok I found it !
What is the best way to get to these villages , are there buses or trains ?

Forget the GPS & Google map (That area don't had high-resolution satellite picture while other chinese electronic map online had more details) From c-c-c db , there's 2 village in TS that had 石咀 in the same AREA 吉昌鄉 石咀蓢 阮/ 那泰鄉 石咀 曹, which = hereBUT there's also another (From China Post address db) 石咀村 in 赤溪镇田头村委会 (that area is Hakka)

... Edit: Ok I found it ! What is the best way to get to these villages , are there buses or trains ? NO train in Taishan. From where? Hong Kong used to be the area's transport hub, but there's also plenty budget airline from SE Asia to Macau/ Guangzhou.

There's something wrong in my previous reply, Duanfen & surrounding's satellite image is hi-resolution (the city proper 台城 is NOT ) The roundabout connects S274 & X548. You might guess 石咀's GPS location by compare the "first" chinese (mapbar.com) map linked by me

I have located it as this village www.c-c-c.org/villagedb/display.cgi?level=Village&id=2296 since it is our clan name and my dad was able to identify the surrounding villages. Its funny, but my grandfather left there for Canada in 1912 when he was just 12 years old and my dad stay there till 1952 before he moved to Hong-Kong and eventually to Canada. Is there any direct flight to Guangdong province !, I would like to avoid Hong-Kong as much as possible and problems with visas etc...

NO direct fight to Guangzhou until JulyRead Henry's directions to Taishan (Perosnally i won't wasting time visiting urban HK on arrival, either the direct TS bus service from airport/ hit the border to Shenzhen > TS bus ) > inter-town bus service from the same TS station/ taxi
