John, My impression is that you already have an email reply from Al Chinn with the Chinese name and romanization of your ancestral village. Can you post it on the Forum in your next post? If you only have the Chinese name of your ancestral village written on paper, you can either scan the aper or take a digital photo and then post the image from the scan or from the digital photo on the Forum - here are the directions: siyigenealogy.proboards.com/index....play&thread=421You can reach me directly via "Tomclan@Gmail.com" Henry

Hi John, A lot had transpired off the Forum since your last posting. The emails between you, Henry, a Chinese genealogist of 25 years experience and I were fast and furious. From part of your Generation Poem you enclosed with your last email I just received, I could guess it was written by Chen Bai Sha 陳白沙 and the full version reads as follow: 藉鳳毓嘉秀,和敬發賢良, 文明應顯é”,è¬ä¸–永傳æšã€‚ See: siyigenealogy.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=names&action=display&thread=752&page=7 at Reply #91 on Jul 6, 2009I can now guess that you could be my 50th cousin twice removed and you should be descended from Chen Hui's first son Chen Mó (è°Ÿ). Now I shall be anxiously waiting for Henry's nephew to locate your zupu/jiapu to connect you up. Philip

Hello All,
It has been awhile since I last posted. Things are moving fast and furious. The most amazing thing which just happened a few days ago was the kindness and generosity of Philip Tan to adopt`my line into his unbelievable family tree of thousands!!! Because of him. he has linked me to Philip as his 50th cousines, twice removed; likewise the same to Nelson Chin and Gene Chin!! What an honor it was to be a larger Chan family!!! For me, it was indeed a humble experience and an ecstatic one!! Now, Henry`s nephew is working on my behalf to secure my second cousin`s family zupu and hopefully, the village zupu as well!! Wow...a dream come true within just couple months connected with these great and noble genealogists!!! Because of Henry and Philip in particularly and others as well, I got so many people excited about searching their ancestral roots again!! Thank you all!!!
I will report more on Henry`s nephew, Shi Sheng`s hard work!!! Stay tuned!!
Best Regards,
John

Hi John,
I think you are getting yourself prematurely excited even before having the search results from Henry’s nephew. What you see were only conjectures on my part with many assumptions and even with that a lot of missing gaps. Those with names cannot be taken with any degree of certainty. There could be other sub-branches that descended from Chen Mo that could also adopt the name generation poem penned by Chen Bai Sha. Make sure that you get the village Chan zupu. What your 2nd cousin has could just be a record of names for a few generations; not much more or different from you already have till your great grandfather. Your agony may yet to come.
Philip
