Hi, I'm tyrone. Our clan here in the Philippines, the Hamoy clan, has traced our roots from Lucio Hamoy ( his christian name after his christian marriage in Dapitan). No one knows his chinese name, but he is known to be from Amoy, China hence the family name "Hamoy". I had visited Xiamen years ago, though it would have been quite fulfulling had I been able to trace our roots. Will ask my relatives in Dapitan if any gravestone details are available.

Hi Kendrick, So your surname is 騰. You said your great great grandfather is from Amoy. Amoy, also known Xiamen, is a big city managed as a sub-provincial covering the districts of Huli (湖裡), Siming (思明), Jimei (集美), Tong'an (同安), Haicang (海滄) and Xiang'an (翔安). Without narrowing down further the particularly location where your great great grandfather was from and assuming your surname is indeed is 騰, it would be an onerous task to even locate whatever 騰 jiapu/zupu that exist from these areas, let alone trying to see if the name of your great, great grandfather is in one of them (i.e. if the guess of his name in Chinese characters are correct). I am afraid you will need to do more research to have any chance of finding your Chinese ancestry.

I just found out that my grandfather is also from Amoy, China when I accidentally browsed my dad's birth certificate. He died in an accident when my dad was few years old so there's very little memory he can pass down to us but I'm absolutely interested to find out more about our Chinese genealogy. His name in my dad's birth certificate is Lee Guat and apparently was a merchange. My dad told me they used to sell stuff around Makati/Pasay, I have no other information aside from that. I don't know how much I can research with very little info to work on but a quick Google of Amoy, China led me to this forum so I'm hoping with some divine intervention I may come across somebody who might provide any lead about him. Hi, Philip!
It's been about 6 years since we've communicated on this. I hope we can give a new life to this conversation. I have a great great grandfather who was born in Amoy (Xiamen), China, Teng Yam Co, and migrated to Ilocos Norte. I am trying to find my ancestors in China, but I only have limited knowledge about him. The last time we had a conversation on this, you asked me if I have the Chinese character of his name. I've asked my Filipino Chinese friends, and the one you suggested is the same - 鄧. I think that's how it was written. As far as the village where he was born; that I do not know. All i know is that one of my uncles also told me that Teng Yam Co lives along the a river called "Wahaii" (not sure if this is the name but this how it is pronounced) and Teng Yam Co lives near where the boat stops (dock) on the river. He was born in 1854.
I hope I'll hear back from you soon!
Thanks, Kendrick

Hi Kendrick,
I have completely forgotten about your case. But with little information that you have, I would not be able to assist you. I would suggest that you contact My China Roots whether they would be able do further research based on what you provided.

My maternal grandfather's name was Ty Seng Kian born on July 7,1915.According to my Mom he came from Amoy,China and now known as Xiamen.Just tonight,I saw his check-up certificate, but it was more likely an identification card with a dry seal,a card that he can present on a police check point as written at the bottom part of the card.It had my Lolo's chinese charactered name but a bit blurred since it was kept for a long time(*send help😁*).There were also numbers at the back which was written using a pencil,I guess,so some parts were erased. It also has serial numbers and his address, maybe were he resided when he came to the Philippines(34 int.A.Mabini Rizal...not sure if that place is in Caloocan..and then some parts were erased too). The indicated date on the card was July 3,1953.Maybe my Lolo renewed his card before his birthday haha

Hi! Good morning. My great grandfather, Mateo Roxas Lim, is Patricio Luis Lim's brother. They were born in formerly known Amoy, China (now Xiamen, Fujian, China). We do not know their Chinese names. Lolo Mateo was born in 1905 and Lolo PL was born in 1915. They migrated to Masbate, Philippines. It is here in the Philippines that they got married and started their families. Does anybody know of any Lim familes who migrated to the Philippines in the early 1900's? My family and I would be very grateful for any help and assistance. Thanks in advance!

I am looking for my great-grandfather's family in Tong-an, China. Based on the birth certificate of my grandfather, Engr Bartolome Lim-uan, his father Lim-uan was from Tong-an and he was 44 years old when my grandfather was born so he was born in 1862. He was a merchant trading in Batangas City in the early 1900. He said he has family in Tong-an but was not able to return because of the war. Is there a way of tracing his family in Tong-an? Thank you. I did my DNA test and I am almost 40% Chinese with relatives in Han Dynasty (Mytrueancestry)
