The Coordinates of Haiyan: 21°49'35"N 112°33'12"E For satellite view (unfortunately this region's view is not high resolution) wikimapia.org/#lat=21.8264448&lon=112.554245&z=14&l=0&m=a&v=2From the map Henry posted previously, Lunding village is about 1 km north and less than 1km west of the Expressway interchange just north of Haiyan Town.

kaoyien, Yes, I did. It is a beautiful state, though I think my friends and acquaintances in SC, Bahia, or Minas Gerais will argue strongly with you as to whose state is the most beautiful. Personally, my favorite Brazilian city (even in the whole world, except for Taishan of course) is Curitiba. It will be hard to convince me otherwise. Have you ever been there?

Yes, i visited Curitiba last year, in January. I have to admit that it is a very beautiful city, modern and traditional at the same time. Did you visit the Jadim Botanico (botanic garden) ? Its a very nice place! I stayed there for 6 days and i plan to comeback! I really liked. But, as you said, every Brazilian is going to Defend your state, so I think my is the most beautiful, but not very known world-wise) Our beaches, landscapes, historical culture, cuisine, are special. The mix of cultures also contributed to this diversity. Everyone that Vsit espitiro santo, really likes it. What did you think of Brazilians when you were here? Did you visit tai shan? I plan to travel to China as soon as i can.
Para mim a China é um dos paÃses mais interessantes do mundo! Obrigado pela ajuda! Até mais!

Hello Kaoyien,
I was in Haiyan and went into our villages with the help of Henry's nephew. The photos of Haiyan town is not what you would expect from the village. The village roads, sanitation and general upkeep normally expected from a well run municipality is not there as these are run by the village chiefs. We went through unsealed roads full of potholes, weed growing without upkeep, litter uncollected on the roads and the sanitation primitive. The general unkempt appearance is caused by lack of funds, the internal management of villages is left to the village chiefs or heads, some manage it better than the others.
Henry, and other, are spending a lot of unpaid time to search for answers, this is becoming a labor of love sort of things not appreciated by some. These dedicated group of people have helped many, they are excellent detectives and have been able to pinpoint a village even when shown the flimsiest piece of address. This is doubly commendable as they do not all read Chinese.
Try to visit the village as I have done, if you have living relatives it will be appreciated, gifts can come later. It is good for you to keep this forum active with fresh ideas.
Joe

Hi Joe,
Thank you for your very kind words for all the Forum members that contribute and help.
Many of the Forum members realize the importance and difficulty for people trying to recover and reclaim their Chinese family heritage and genealogy lineages, especially when there are language issues and several generations have passed.
Unlike some Chinese professional genealogy services where you have to pay $150 USD per hour, we are happy to help and we do it for free, however, just because it is free or available from this on-line Forum - does not mean that our collective efforts are on an amateur level. I believe the help from the Forum is at a high quality level.
Unfortunately, there are people that come to the Forum take advantage of the trust and generosity of people. Recently, Franky Looi was helped by members of the Forum and he contacted by Taishan nephew for help. As you know personally, my Taishan nephew is an honest hardworking person. After working very hard for an entire day and running up an expensive long distance telephone bill - Franky Looi has not responded to requests from my nephew or from me to send my nephew his fee via Western Union.
It is rather disappointing that there are people that prey upon decent people - I believe that in life - "what goes around - will come around" and sooner or later - life will provide these kinds of people with what they deserve.
But, I, for one, will not stop trying to help people that need our assistance - because, there really is no other place they can turn to.
Henry

I would just like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all of you for helping me and my family discover more about our ancestors. This is especially important to my father, because he always wanted to know more about his dad´s life and information about his background. It is a life dream for my dad, but he never had an oportunity, because of the lack of technology and the language barrier when he was younger. I really appreciate all your help and affords.
Thanks a lot, god bless
see ya

Is you Father able to go back now that you have managed to locate the village? I must ask my brother in law where in Toishan he came from - I'm sure he has the same last name as you. I have found that the more you learn, the less you know... and there's this frantic thought that you will never get there...

I would refer to Henry’s posting: Hi Joe, Thank you for your very kind words for all the Forum members that contribute and help. Henry It is with much embarrassment to me reading the posting where Henry referred to Franky Looi not living up to his part of the bargain for services render to him by Henry’s nephew; I am embarrassed because Looi is a fellow Malaysian Chinese. Henry’s posting actually followed my comment on April 8 2009 where I had pointed out Looi’s lack of courtesy with respect to Henry assistance rendered to him in “ Location, location, location” section under “ Need Help to Locate Village Name” thread started by Looi himself: Hi Looi, I notice that you are a fellow Malaysian Chinese, not knowing how to type Chinese (and I presumed you are, like me, not able to read Chinese) and seeking help in an English forum hosted in US. I noticed that you are very much in a hurry and that could in itself be the reason behind something glaring, which I noticed, you had inadvertently missed out. You seem to thank everybody that was helping you except Henry. From what I can, Henry’s help in locating your ancestral village is of no small measure. I have the deepest admiration for Henry for being so magnanimous; promising to continue his traditional help and welcome to participants and readers to this Forum notably to those new to the Forum. His willingness to help especially, with his knowledge of geography and maps, has proved so invaluable to many trying to locate their ancestral villages. Though I knew the location of my ancestral village, visited it for the first time and obtained a set of my Clan zupu about a year before I knew of the existence of this Forum, I am nevertheless very thankful for the welcome and friendship accorded to me by Henry through this Forum. Whatever knowledge of Chinese genealogy I now have is mainly attributable to him. I hope the action of this someone from my country will neither dissuade Henry from helping others from Malaysia seeking assistance nor diminish his friendship with me. I would like to take this opportunity to add my say on comments expressed elsewhere regarding the monetary expectation when we, as Chinese from overseas, visit our ancestral villages. Though this has not been the experience that my wife and I had when we visited our respective ancestral villages in 2007, I would nevertheless like to put forth a point for the readers reflection. What would the mainland Chinese think of us overseas Chinese over the action of Franky Looi?

Kaoyien,
No, the area you circled is not the name and location of your ancestral village Lunding village. Directly under the words Lunding village are the simplified characters for the name and location of your ancestral village:
PinYin romanization: Lunding
traditional Chinese characters: 崙定
simplified Chinese characters: 仑定
